ANZ appoints Sanjoy Sen as Managing Director, Retail Banking Asia Pacific

ANZ today announced the appointment of Sanjoy Sen as Managing Director, Retail Banking Asia Pacific, reporting to Gilles Planté, ANZ Asia CEO. Mr Sen will join ANZ on 1 October 2012.

Based in Singapore, Mr Sen will be responsible for building on ANZ’s retail business momentum in Asia and the Pacific, including developing stronger connectivity across markets to deliver products and services for customers with domestic and regional needs.

 

Mr Sen brings 22 years of experience to the role, joining ANZ from Citigroup where he held senior leadership roles across business management, sales, marketing, credit and risk. He has also worked in M&A execution and integration activities specific to retail banking and was most recently Managing Director and Consumer Bank Head for the Middle East, Pakistan and North Africa. Prior to this, Mr Sen was Chief Operating Officer and Retail Banking Head for Citibank in China.

 

Commenting on the appointment, Mr Planté said: “Sanjoy brings deep multi-market experience and knowledge to this role, along with significant leadership attributes. A strong retail franchise across our key markets in Asia Pacific is an important component of ANZ’s super regional strategy. It’s also a key driver of brand awareness which is particularly important for institutional and commercial customers as well.”

 

Mr Sen holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management where he was the Marketing Gold Medalist in 1990. He is on the Advisory Board of the University of Dubai’s School of Management.
