ANZ opens Christchurch earthquake relief account

ANZ today announced it is collecting donations for the Australian Red Cross New Zealand Earthquake Appeal. 

ANZ New Zealand has already announced a NZ$1 million donation to support long-term relief and recovery efforts as well as an assistance package for impacted customers. ANZ also said it would match all staff donations made to the appeal.

 

ANZ CEO Australia, Philip Chronican said: “I think all Australians are watching the news in disbelief at the level of destruction in Christchurch. Many Australians have friends and relatives in the area and we all want to do our bit to help.”

 

“The people of Christchurch have been through so much already and our thoughts and sympathies are with those that have been affected by this tragic event,” said Mr Chronican.

 

Donations to the Red Cross Canterbury Earthquake Appeal can be made at any ANZ branch or through internet banking. The account details are: Account name: Red Cross New Zealand Earthquake Appeal BSB: 013 265 Account: 4768 62394 The Australian Red Cross has advised that the position on tax deductibility is not certain however ANZ will still issue receipts for all donations.
